The interactive hearing was held in the UN headquarters (New York City), on June 4th.
As part of the preparatory process for the high-level meeting, the President of the General Assembly, with the support of the World Health Organization and the Stop TB Partnership, organized and presided over an interactive civil society hearing with the active participation of appropriate senior-level representatives of Member States, observers of the General Assembly, parliamentarians, representatives of local government, relevant United Nations entities, non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, invited civil society organizations, academia, medical associations and the private sector, as well as people affected by tuberculosis and broader communities.
The purpose of participation of INCURE CU was to represent interests of people, who are affected by heavy forms of tuberculosis. Severe TB patients need to be identified into a separate group and should be given intensified therapy and intravenous forms of anti-TB drugs.
Within the visit to UN headquarters, INCURE vice-director Tetiana Sprynsian participated in Chas Time (live broadcast on Ukrainian Voice of America), highlighting actual problems of TB-services in Ukraine.
INCURE took part in the discussion with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UN Council with other present Ukrainian NGO’s on the strategy of the official Ukrainian delegation for the High-level meeting on the fight to end tuberculosis.
